Mission: The Wythe County Historical Society Library collects, preserves, and makes accessible artifacts, documents, and print and digital media of all forms related to Wythe County history to educate present and future generations about the past. The Library offers historical research opportunities in both physical and online capacities to serve residents of Wythe County and beyond.
The Wythe County Historical Society Library holds research material for genealogists and general researchers. Our collection includes family histories, directories, cemetery guides, Wythe County history, history of surrounding counties, land title books, deed books, history on the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, as well as personal family papers.
Our library is available for researchers on the days that we are open, and our staff would be happy to assist you. If you are not able to come to the library, you can send us a research request via email at wch_library@wytheville.org. Just tell us what you are looking for and we will do preliminary research and then respond with our findings.
We are also in care of materials from Rural Retreat, which are available for research as well. Check out the Rural Retreat Collection to see if any titles would aid with research.
Be sure to read our Images Policy which includes our fee schedule for research below.
